Welcome to the online training course for the Working with Boys programme, which is designed to take around 4 to 5 hours of study.
Working with Boys is conceived and written by Andrew Hampton who was a Headteacher for 18 years and is the author of When Girls Fall Out and How to Run a School.
The course content is based on the book of the same name published by Routledge in 2023, but goes beyond the book with additional content, thinking and support.
Aim
The aim is to train teachers to support boys in school, from Year 5 and above, to be the best they can be.
Objectives
We want boys to be better able to self-regulate their behaviour and language.
We want boys to be able to express themselves appropriately and to be more resilient to the idea of humiliation.
We want girls to feel safe in school, free from harmful sexual behaviour and able to thrive.
We want all pupils to experience peer relationships based on mutual respect.
Schools will see:
- better behaviour based on peer relations which are mutually respectful;
- better attendance because pupils enjoy and appreciate school;
- better engagement and
- better attainment.
